WHY DEPECHE MODE ARE DEPECHE MAD AT BRITS

ELECTRO pop legends Depeche Mode are disappointed the BRITs have not offered them the Outstanding Achievement gong.

The nominations for this year's awards will be announced on Thursday, but the Outstanding Achievement category has been scrapped for 2013.

The Personal Jesus hitmakers have sold more than 100million records over three decades, but fail to get the recognition they deserve in the UK.

Synth man, Andrew "Fletch", 51, told me: "We'd like to be offered, though whether we'd accept it is another thing.

"In 2011 the BRITs didn't have an Outstanding Achievement award either.

"Quite a lot of people who previously won it said we should've got it.

"I don't know why we don't get considered. But we have a lot of fans here still, so we can't complain too much."

DM return with their as-yet-untitled 13th studio album in March and it's a return to form reckons Fletch.

He said: "The music has a similar vibe to Violator.

"A new guy we worked with on this album is Christopher Berg. He's a young Swedish kid, brilliant programmer and musician."

And original founding member and Erasure man Vince Clarke, 52, may be helping out with some mixes too.

The band are preparing for their latest world tour, which hits London's O2 Arena on May 28 and 29.

Despite there being only two UK dates so far, DM hope to return for festivals.

Fletch said: "We're getting on a bit. We'll have to see how we feel."

  1. Meu Amigo Enock...

    Enock.
